The purpose of this site is to give coaches, parents, trainers and administrators information about Long Term Athlete Development and how it can be implemented to create optimal outcomes for young athletes. We believe that an approach that follows LTAD principles will yield better results (both in performance and lifelong enjoyment) in sports that an early sport specialization (ESS) method.
ESS has been shown to create more injuries, greater burnout and less enjoyment of sport. While the ESS model can create short term success, an LTAD approach will have better long-term outcomes.
This site contains information that will help you understand and implement an LTAD approach to training. National governing bodies of many sports and in many countries are all steering coaches toward an LTAD approach, so this site will help bring that information into one place in an effort to put the best ideas all in one place.
